Nikita True was born in Birmingham in 1997. She followed her passion for art throughout secondary school, regularly entering local competitions and gained two A*s in GCSE Art and Design. She decided to pursue this path further by studying Fine Art at A Level along with Photography, English Literature and Psychology.

 

These subjects all play a part in Nikita’s practice today. They have inspired her to use text and spoken word in her work as well as referencing psychoanalysis. She completed a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Dudley College of Technology. This course expanded her skills as a sculptor where she was introduced to glass and ceramics.

 

Nikita has recently graduated with a 2:1 Fine Art BA (Hons) degree at Birmingham City University. She has been a member of the course’s fund-raising committee, organising and hosting events such as an art auction, jumble sale and running a weekly coffee shop to raise money for the upcoming graduate’s Degree Show.
